for everyone

I didn't know the campaign season is on until today. I was driving along Salinas Drive this afternoon when at a stop light I noticed an SUV in front of me with a toy M-16 covered with Juan Ponce Enrile and Gringo Honasan campaign stickers fixed to the spare tire.  I just had to take a picture.

Enrile and Honasan are certified coup plotters whose names are synonymous to violence and power-grabbing.  For them to use the M-16 as a "mascot" or an official symbol in their campaign is absolute overkill, if not, a very bad joke.  It's reckless and sick and I don't know what they were thinking.  It's obscene and offensive to peace-loving Filipinos that make up the majority.  Well, all individuals have a particular thing, color or habit that characterizes them.  The M-16 (aside from bloodshed) just happens to be the closest you can get to describing Enrile's and Honasan's frame of mind and that's violence equals power.

So voters, if you're wondering what message the coup twins and their M-16 are trying to convey - it's "Vote me or you die!"
